Description

The Xprecia Stride test strips test for quantitative prothrombin time (PT) in fresh capillary whole blood samples. This can be used for the monitoring of warfarin.

Warfarin is prescribed to help prevent blood clots forming or growing larger. The PT test measures how long it takes for the blood to clot.

When a strip is inserted into the machine, it automatically performs 2 quality control tests. The first checks there is enough reagent on the strip and the second looks at test strip degradation.



Performing a Test

Turn the stride on
If prompted, enter for Operator ID
On the home screen, tap Patient Test
If prompted, enter the Patient ID
Open the test strip vial and remove 1 test strip
Immediately close the vial to preserve the other test strips
Scan the test strip barcode but aiming the barcode reader at the barcode and press scan on the screen
Insert the test strip printed side up
If the stride request that you scan the test strip vial then do so as you did with the test strip
A wait screen will display while the Stride warms up, this should take approximately 30 seconds
When the Apply Sample screen displays, prepare and apply the blood sample N.B. apply the blood to the test strip within 60 seconds of sticking the fingertip
Test in Progress will display on screen, do not touch the test strip or add more blood
The test is complete when the INR value, time and date are displayed
Press the Test Strip Eject button to iscard the test strip
